Dear Angels,
"A month ago I began massage therapy school.  Last week I began doing massage on my first client.  She was a young woman of maybe 30.  I can't explain what happened to me that night. When I started the massage I felt strange sensations - nausea, and I felt so bad. I was very nervous and had a hard time controlling myself.  When I got home I had to throw up. Please tell me what happened."  Linda, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Dear Linda,
It doesn't look like the client, herself, was at fault. At first I thought that perhaps you were empathic and picked up her anxiety.  However that doesn't appear to be what happened. What your Angels are saying is you were the one who was apprehensive. This is totally understandable since it was your first professional massage.  You were doing your best to remember your moves and to control the situation in the way you were taught.

Your personal fears of not massaging in the correct way brought up your old feelings of lack of self-worth that many of us still harbor.  Your reaction was so strong, that it caused you to vomit up the energy of abuse that you've held inside for many years.  This massage brought up the pain of your own bloodied, emotional past. The pain was so sharp that your body ejected it physically.

Now is the time to honor yourself.  Your Angels say it is time to remember your childhood.  Think back to what you have buried in your memories and what might have prompted this strong a reaction. What happened in your young life that made you feel so powerless.  Your inner child depends on your willingness to listen to her voice within you, so that she can grow tall and strong in her power, knowing she is safe.

Massage often brings up strong reactions, first in the new therapist so he/she can look deeply within.  Once you, as the therapist,  are used to remaining in your power, you will be able to help others work through the deep-seated memories, which block all of us from moving forward positively in our lives.
